The manuscript transcribes a long inscription from a Roman bronze tablet excavated at Fermo, followed by 22 pages of elaborate interpretation of the text with numerous references to classical authors from the imperial period. The inscription contains the judicial decision of the emperor Domitian in an old territorial litigation between the cities Firmum Picenum (Fermo) and Falerii (Cività Castellana) in central Italy. The decree is addressed to the authorities of Falerii, and confirms the previous judgement of the emperor Augustus. The manuscript begins with a dedication to the cardinal Ottavio Bandini, legate of Pope Clement VIII in "Picenate provincia," dated "VI. KAL. Julij Ann. 1602."
